Decay: the state or process of rotting or decomposition; the process of declining in quality, power, or vigor; from fall.
The Assingment
Decay is of latin origin, deriving from both de and cadere which loosley translates to "from fall". In this roll, you will explore the word decay and it's many possibilities. From abandoned buildings to lost relationships, you will shoot a roll of flim exploring this phenomena.
The second part of this assignment you will experiment with hand painted development. This technique only allows for certain parts of your photographs to develop, giving your images an interesting and often abstract painted look which often results in the illusion of damaged film and photographs, furthuring the idea of decay.
Remember to create a brainstorming page of your ideas in your sketchbook/binder. Include sketches, lists, etc. to make sure you've thought of everything you could possibly use or do for this assignment. Make it artful! At the end of this assignment you will submit a page/post on your online portfolio showcasing your top two (2) images. You will physically hand in your two (2) final prints, their test strips, a fully analyzed contact sheet, brainstorms, and completed rubric.
